Asiatic Lion: Pride of the Forest

In a shaded corner of the sanctuary, "Ravi," an imposing Asiatic lion, commands respect. Smaller than his African cousins, Ravi represents one of the most endangered lion subspecies, with only a few hundred remaining in the wild. Rescued from an illegal breeding program, Ravi arrived at the sanctuary weak and malnourished, but under careful care, he regained his strength.

Ravi’s story has become a rallying cry for the conservation of the Gir Forest in India, the Asiatic lion’s last natural refuge. Watching Ravi interact with his pride and hearing his mighty roar reminds visitors of the fragility of these majestic creatures and the urgent need to protect their habitats.
